Last December, my family and I traveled to Hokkaido and it was truly one of the best trips ever! (Ya I do know it's July rn sorry for the delayed post) We followed a tour agency this time round (no directions guide whatsoever in this series of travel post i'm sorry please don't close your tab yetttt) as the adults agreed that it would be quite troublesome to travel around during winter (for example, waiting for the train outdoors, walking from one place to another on the slippery roads... we've all experienced that in Korea the year before), plus the flight tickets itself weren't cheap (decided on the trip a few months before) and we were travelling in a big group of 14 pax.

Our flight was at midnight and we were really worried after reading news regarding the weather in Hokkaido. The airport was closed, more than 100 flights were affected and people were trapped at the airport due to the heavy snowfall (heaviest in 50 years they say). We were very worried and kept texting the tour leader for updates. THANKFULLY, there wasn't any delay and we landed at Shin-Chitose Airport safely although slightly late but no big deal :')

Look at the snow!
The blankets prepared for the people stuck at the airport.
We were greeted by our tour guide An-San and we boarded the bus. The moment we stepped out of the airport everyone was like omgggffff the wind it's sosososoososososo colddddd.
First stop: LUNCH.
It was around a 2hours bus ride to Oshamambe town, Yamakoshi district. Eating this crab was... very tiring (and painful) LOL but it was indeed sweet and juicy.
Sorry for the overexposed photo :/ Each set comes with a crab, huge scallop, soba, appetizer, idk what's that on the wooden thing and rice in the second wooden box.
Lunch @ 長万部物産センター
Opening hours: 8am-7pm daily
We reached Hakodate Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse (金森倉庫) around 5pm, and the sky was totally dark already. This place consists of a beer hall and shopping area.
We tried these catchcakes/ "cheese omelettes" there and it was superb. It costs ¥200 and comes with coffee/ tea of your choice. It's definitely cheaper if you buy a box of 8 though but we wanted to try out different flavours. Snaffle's Catchcakes are rated 3rd out of the 10 best Hokkaido cheesecakes that are worth a try by Fast Japan!
We also bumped into this Taiwanese travel show host!
We were supposed to go up Mount Hakodate after that but there was a really long queue when we reached so the tour guide suggested we go back to our hotel to check in and have dinner first since it is located less than 10 minutes away. We all agreed and went back to hotel for our buffet dinner! HANDS DOWN TO THE BEST SASHIMI BOWL EVER everything was so fresh and delicious I had 2 bowls of it !!!!!
There weren't a lot of people at Mount Hakodate and we took the cable car up. It was a short ride as it is not very high up. The night view was great but we didn't stay long because it was tooooo coldddddd.
When we went back to our hotel room, the tatami was set up already. We quickly changed to our yukata and went to the onsen! Going to the hot spring at night when the weather is freezing cold is truly amazing. (and yes full naked ones hence no pictures of the place)
