Korea Trip Day 5 (Part 2): N Seoul Tower & LED Rose Garden at Dongdaemun Design Plaza
After walking around Gangnam (view part 1 here), we headed back to Myeongdong to visit the iconic landmark and famous tourist spot, N Seoul Tower (N 서울타워). I was soooooooooo worried that we couldn't reach there before sunset but thankfully we managed to!
We chose to take the cable car up rather than the bus. It was just a short 3 minutes trip up and each cable car can accommodate around 30 people.
Directions: Turn left when you exit Myeongdong Station (Line 4) Exit 3, walk for about 15 minutes following the street of the right side of the Pacific Hotel.
The round-trip ticket costs ₩8500 for adults and ₩5500 for children and senior citizens whereas the one-way ticket costs ₩6000 for adults and ₩3500 for children and senior citizens.
If you're planning to go up to N Seoul Tower to watch the sunset/ night view, be sure to be there early as the queue can get really long in the evening especially during the weekends/ holidays.

The levels of N Seoul Tower, taken from this website.
Lobby- Entrance to observatory, information desk, Alive Museum, N Gift, N Sweet Bar, cafe
Plaza 1F - The Best Burger in Seoul, N Terrace, N Gift, ticket booth, Food O'clock
Plaza 2F - The Place Dining (Italian restaurant), roof terrace
Tower 1F - Hancook (Korean Restaurant)
Tower 2F - The Wishing Pond, Sky Restroom, Sky Coffee, N Photo Studio
Tower 3F - Observatory, The BA:NG (Gift shop), Weenybeeny, N Photo
Tower 5F - N Grill (French restaurant)
Basically the lobby and plaza levels are accessible by everyone, whereas for the tower floors, you need to pay ₩10000 to go up or make a reservation at the restaurants prior visiting the tower. It was dad's birthday on that day and we were actually considering to have dinner at N Grill, but after looking at the menu... ok maybe not. The cheapest dish costs around RM300 lololol might as well go back to Myeongdong for shopping. And fyi, it was the place where one of the scenes of My Love From The Stars was filmed! The place where Cheon Song Yi was alone after Do Min Joon disappeared (but he appeared for a few seconds). I remember KhunToria WGM also placed a love lock here.
We did not go up because it'll cost hundreds for the whole family. However, you can purchase the N Seoul Tower Observatory Ticket from Trazy at a discounted price! If hiking is your thing (and you're not travelling in the winter), you can opt for this Namsan Park & N Seoul Tower Evening Hiking Tour as well :)
The entrance to the tower floors is behind the glass in the photos below.

We stayed at the place for around 2 hours and headed to our next destination, Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문디자인플라자) to visit the LED Rose Garden! It's an exhibition that displays 25500 LED roses from 18 April 2015 to 29 February 2016 at the rooftop grass garden area of DDP. The admission is free and DDP closes on Mondays.
Directions: Take the metro to Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station (Seoul Subway Line 2, 4 or 5) and proceed to exit 1.
The architecture of this building is just ;____; idek how to put into words.
Tip: Visit this place in the morning, be it outside or inside DDP for your bomb-ass instagram ootd/ white-addict shots :)

hello |
The roses are really pretty in the day too ;_; photo creds: ddp
After going into the building, we saw this exhibition themed after the Korean flag and went in to take a look. The art pieces are simply amazing.
After that, we walked over to Dongdaemun and had dinner in this noodle house called북촌손만두 (Bukchon Son Mandu) because it was flooding with people and I guess it'll be a good choice. #muchpsychology It is located around the corner of the building near Exit 8 of Dongdaemun Station.
Assorted Dumplings ₩8000 |
Bukchon Cold Noodles ₩5500 |
Bukchon Noodles ₩4500 |
Bukchon Anchovy Stock Chopped Noodles ₩5500 |
The dumplings are all freshly made! The noodles was good too but the cold noodles and kimchi dumpling are abit too spicy, I ended up coughing and drinking the whole bottle of water. After dinner, we went into Migliore (a mall at Dongdaemun) and did some shopping over there. Since Dongdaemun is a fashion town, the area is filled with shopping malls and it's relatively cheaper because it's like a wholesale city. We did some souvenir shopping and went back to our apartment and that's all for Day 5 :)
