Exploring Fremantle | Winter in WA

by - August 06, 2016

Fremantle Prison
There are 4 types of prison tours, we didn't join any because we were running late and didn't have much time :/ The public can access the outer part of the prison and also the museum (where all my photos below were taken).

Tip:
Park your vehicle at the lower parking lots (not the ones near the entrance) to get a free hour of parking! Just drive one round outside the prison and you shall find it.

computerised record of prisoners

The following part of the prison can only be accessed by those who join the tours.

This part of the art gallery exhibits the prisoners' artworks. You can actually purchase them!

And also some photographs by professionals.

There's also this Convict Cafe which operates from 10-5 daily.

There's also this youth hostel for backpackers to stay! I think it's a pretty interesting (and creepy????!) and unique experience to stay here with a group of friends. More details can be found on their website :)

The residence for gatekeepers/ warders etc.

Fremantle Markets
Definitely a must-visit when you come over to Fremantle! It opens only on Friday - Sunday so you gotta plan your trip well. The market consists of 2 sections namely The Yard and The Hall. The parking lot nearby operates from 9am onwards if I'm not mistaken so you can actually come earlier and visit The Yard first to save some money heh.

Monument Hill War Memorial
We went there on the last day, hoping to watch the sunrise clouds blocked everything :( PLUS THE WIND WAS STRONG AF my legs were freezing.

The Round House
It used to be a prison, with just only 8 cells as the population in WA was really small.

The lady passed me this souvenir card after "punishing" me HAHA

There's a tunnel below the roundhouse linking High Street and Bathers Beach. I wouldn't walk through the tunnel at night nopeeeeee.

This dog was playing fetch with its owner ngawww (so cold btw)

Shipwreck Galleries
This museum is worth a visit if you like maritime related stuffs plus the entrance is free!

Fishing Boat Harbour
it wasn't easy climbing uppppp

Cicerello's
A must-eat when you're in Fremantle! Nice place to enjoy the juicy fish overlooking the sea and ships. There's another shop called Kailis just next to it as well, both of them are the famous for their fish & chips.

The mini aquarium inside-

Gino's Cafe
We decided to dine in at this cafe after comparing all the prices #asian. Restaurants located at Cappuccino Strip are pretty pricey so mhmm. Food portion is again, ridiculously huge. (The risotto I tasted at damansara uptown tasted better imo lol)
