Twin Date | Sekeping Serendah

by - March 16, 2017

We had another place in mind but due to certain reasons we decided to go for a short 2D1N at Sekeping Serendah which was nearer. It was quite a last minute plan and we only booked the rooms for it two weeks before the trip. We chose a Thursday because there're extra charges for weekends (and it's already pretty expensive...) and also to avoid big crowds over there. There're quite a number of chalets with different rates so do check them out here!

Two days before the trip, we actually had a meeting to discuss the agenda which includes food, itinerary and things-to-bring HAHAHAHAHA. It was quite weird and funny(?) when I took my notebook out and started taking down notes (or maybe meeting minutes lmao).

9-10 March 2017
The check in time is 2pm so we left home around 12:30pm. It's just around an hour's drive away from Puchong. There was no problem reaching the place with Waze but the reception can get bad inside the kampung kampung part so do download this local map just in case you need to use the traditional method to find your way there.

There's this small sign where you should make the turn but it's not easily spotted.

Upon our arrival, we parked our car and unloaded our things. Thank goodness the caretaker helped us carried the ice box filled with our bbq stuff because it was really heavy and the way up to our glass box was a steep and tiring climb. We told the caretaker to set up the fire for bbq at 6pm and paid him the remaining half (deposit of half the rate of the room is required) after he handed us the keys.

We stayed in Glass Box 1 & 2 and the layouts are just slightly different, no big deal. The shower and toilet can only be "ge zhe" via the white curtains in the room. The bathroom in GB1 is completely uncovered (open shower concept mhmm) and it honestly felt scary showering at night whereas the one in GB2 is covered with concrete ceiling and bricks, but it doesn't give you much privacy either because it's situated just next to the entrance which is easily unlocked from the outside.

Basic utensils, Milo & Nescafe sachets are provided as well as shown in the photo below (except for the maggi cup).

The weather was really sunny and I was so sweaty I felt like having a nap. Remember to put the mosquito net down to avoid insects getting all over your bed! They do provide mosquito coil as well but do make sure you bring mosquito repellent (although you'll still get tons of mosquito bites cuz they're probably immune to it already). Anyways, we canceled our planned photoshoot (1) and walked around to find the first pool. We then proceeded to the waterfall which is just a few minutes' drive away from the retreat. We had a nice dip there for around 45 minutes and left when it started drizzling.

Since we were already wet, we went to the "hidden" pool which was not shown on the layout map. It is located in front of Warehouse 2 and honestly it's much prettier! We took some photos and played a round of UNO. Yep just one round, in the pool (the plastic H2O UNO but it was really messy and the cards kept sinking) and then it started raining again sigh and we ran back to our room which was quite far away.

Make sure to bring your own towel, hangers and hairdryer if you need it!
Since it was raining, the caretaker came slightly later to help set up the fire. It was still drizzling when we had our bbq at GB1. (our room smelled really bad after that bcs of the smoke and there were lots of insects since we kept the glass doors opened) The food costed RM35 per pax and we obviously bought too much hahaha and we had lots of leftover bacon and chicken balls. The rooms are equipped with just a short tong ("giap") and 2 of the metal bbq sticks so I'll suggest you to bring satay sticks / longer tongs. Every chalet is equipped with a simple kitchen except for the GB but it has a kettle, mini fridge and oven toaster.

After showering for the second time, we headed over to GB2 for a photoshoot session lmao. LS just gotten the fairy lights from Typo two days before the trip and they're really prettyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and expensive. Please excuse my awkward and pimple-ish face c:

We played a round of Monopoly as well in the dark (I lost to Bah by just $10 smh) and went to bed at 12.

Ok so... there electricity got cut off at midnight. And the caretaker carried up a bucket of water for us and yea eventually the tap water got less........

We brought a 5L drinking water as well because they do not provide filtered water but you can boil the tap water yourself. We went over to GB1 for breakfast and soon realised we can't make breakfast because we can't boil water for our milo and cup noodles ............ But thanks to the candles that Bah brought for the photoshoot we managed to make something :''') #野外求生记 LOL

After breakfast, we walked around the whole retreat and explored other chalets. It was quite time-consuming and I think it's better to do so after you check out.

The warehouse had no doors at all so we went in and looked around. It is an open space and suitable for big groups.

We chilled by the pool for a short while, went back to GB1 around 11 and had our cup noodles because the electricity was back!!

Last but not least, do check out the video Bah filmed and also LS photography portfolio!

    1. Hi there sorry I don't quite remember but I think it was glass box 2. Both glass boxes are almost the same, only a slight layout difference. Main difference would be the totally uncovered shower in glass box 1. Both are equally suitable for couples, I don't have a preference of one over the other.
