Korea Trip Day 7&8: Onemount Snow Park, Nanta Show, New Year Countdown at Hongdae, Ewha Woman's University

by - March 29, 2016

Sorry for the overdue post! All the work just suddenly flood in and I thought that I needa take a break from this after posting the previous post as I felt like as if I was rushing to complete the posts and the contents and feelings were not well-presented.

31st December 2015 (Thursday)

This round, we finally got to have a much more proper breakfast!! It was freshly cooked upon request by the owner of the homestay yass (no longer need to get those discounted breads at night from the bakery lmao)

We did plan to go back to Gapyeong because we didn't have enough time there, to visit Nami Island and go for skiing. HOWEVER, my dad didn't want to ski because he was afraid that he might injure himself AND my sis was reluctant to go too because she said it was too expensive ~.~ I DIDN'T GET TO SEE REAL SNOW I WAS REALLY REALLY REALLY SAD AND I AM STILL SAD RN.
We agreed that there won't be much to see at Nami Island (no snow, no autumn leaves, just lots of tree branches) hence we went to this Snowpark instead because we have some vouchers that can be used lol. It is open all-year round so I think it'll be nice to visit during the summer?
IMO it wasn't really worth the visit, should've went shopping instead.

The outdoor -

The rental for skates were charged separately. I got to skate again after so many years ahhhhhh (and finally at some ice rink out of Sunway Pyramid!1!!) It was so beautifully designed at such you won't feel bored going round and round the ice rink! You gotta pay an extra ₩5000 to rent the skates.

HUSKIES!!!!!!!1!!!!1!!
I wanted to ride on this actually but you it's not cheap and it's just one round around the ice rink so... forget bout it.

Another part of the snow park for kids-

So tired after all the skating. We were given food coupons but it couldn't be used in the snowpark and the worst thing is that the people there couldn't tell us where to use them and it's not even stated on the coupon itself. We wasted like half an hour walking up and down the snowpark, getting rejected by them and finally got some reliable info saying that we can use it on the second floor of the mall smh.

Cheapest meal of all because we only needed to top up ₩7000!

After filling our tummies, we headed back inside (kinda reluctant though because it was so warm in the restaurant ahaha)

aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnndddddddddddd we tried this idk what it's called but a traditional winter activity that people carry out outdoors lol but nvm at least we get to experience it...
IT WAS SO HARD MOVING AROUND ISTG

Had to stand there and wait for people to come down from this thingy (2nd photo below) so that I can slide a few rounds with it lololol. Again, not easy to move around with that mannn.

After coming out, we did a little bit of shopping and guess what? We were late for the Nanta show LOL. The branded shops here that had sales were really worth the grab ok you won't get that price in Malaysia!!!

There are 3 Nanta Theaters around Seoul and we went to the one at Chungjeongno (because coupon discount)
Directions: Take a subway to Chungjeongno station (Line 2 or 5), proceed to exit 7 and walk through the connected passage.

No photos were allowed inside so too bad. BUT THE SHOW WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD DEFINITELY A MUST WATCH WHEN YOU VISIT KOREA !!! It's a non-verbal performance based solely on music and motions. Do visit their website for more information and book the tickets in advanced too! You can also check out Cookin' NANTA Show Seoul Discount Ticket on Trazy and compare to get the best price ;)

After that, we headed back to Hongdae and had our dinner at 10+pm lol. I noticed this shop around Seoul and we went in to have a try.
James Cheese Back Ribs

The seats were designed such that you can store your bags and jackets in it so that it won't have the bbq smell :''))))

diy tuna rice balls
Definitely a 10/10 and would revisit this place when I get back to Seoul!!!!

After dinner, we wandered around Hongdae for awhile (to digest the meal hahaha)

We got ourselves a crepe as well from this old couple.

It was already around 11:30 (I tried hard to delay time so that my mum wouldn't drag us back to the homestay lol), we headed to the central area of Hongdae and waited for the countdown!
It was my first time counting down with my family at such a crowded place mann what an experience.
I didn't get one of those helium balloons :( and my very nice countdown snap failed to post and I didn't save it sobs ok. Anyways, the fireworks were really beautiful :)

Some friendly guy offered to help us take a family photo hahahaha we didn't even ask for it! so nice of him! We wished each other Happy New Year, headed back to the homestay and went to bed.

1st January 2016 (Friday)

We were kinda in a rush as we needed to be at the airport at noon therefore we took a taxi Ewha Womans University area. We saved lots of time and it's also cheaper to travel by taxi because it's less than 15 minutes drive away.

It's actually a really nice place to shop but we didn't have enough time :(((((((((((((((((( and lots of shops are not open yet because it was too early :c

After walking around for around an hour, we went back to our airbnb to get our luggage and headed to the airport. The Incheon Airport is really huge and crowded so make sure to be there early, at least 3 hours before your departure time!

I guess that's all for this trip. Till next time, Korea xx
