Korea Trip Day 4 (Part 1): Petite France 쁘띠프랑스 @ Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do

by - January 06, 2016

28th December 2015 (Monday)

For this day, we decided to travel out of Seoul to Gyeonggi province. The popular attractions you've probably heard of in Gyeonggi-do are Nami Island (남이섬), Petite France (쁘띠프랑스) and The Garden of Morning Calm (아침고요수목원). We traveled to Gapyeong via the normal subway and it took us around 2 hours plus (somehow ended up at the wrong terminal, almost got on to the wrong train etc).

Directions: Myeongdong station (Line 4) → Dongdaemun History and Culture Park (Line 4) → Wangshimni Station (Line 2) → Sangbong Station (Jungang Line) → Gapyeong Station (Gyeongchun Line)

Directions taken from this website because mine wasn't that accurate, though reachable, but it took a longer time. You can also opt to take the ITX train, an express train to Gapyeong from Cheongnyangni Station. The journey is around an hour faster than the usual subway but it is 2-3 times more expensive.

It was around noon when we reached the Gapyeong terminal, and we got on to the Gapyeong City Tour Bus as it's easier to move around places. This is the cheapest and most convenient option if you plan to visit a few spots at Gapyeong.

This is the bus timetable I got from the Gapyeong terminal, you can check out the official website for the latest updates too. I wanted to screenshot the timetable from their website at first but the English website is down so yea..

I don't know why the bus driver skipped the Jarasum and Gapyeong Rail Bike terminals, because I REALLY WANTED TO GO RAIL BIKING AFTER WATCHING 'KILL ME, HEAL ME'. T___T I don't know if we were supposed to press the button to inform him or what but we didn't see any stations along the way anyway.

[If you're not that adventurous and would not risk getting lost or whatsoever, I strongly recommend you to take one of these day tours which includes 3-4 destinations (Petite France, Garden of Morning Calm, Rail Bike, Nami Island) click here or here or here or here]

At the Nami Island terminal, you can take the ferry to Nami Island. You can also consider taking the zip-wire (aka the flying fox) down to Nami Island if the queue for the ferry is too long. It costs ₩38000, approx RM140 for a less than 4 minutes ride..

Anyways, we did not visit Nami Island (the short story of this will be at Day 6), and we alighted the bus at Petite France. The journey from Gapyeong terminal to Petite France takes about 50 minutes.
P/s: Quite a lengthy post although I've removed half the number of photos I wanted to post. More on photos and less of words btw so enjoy! :)

The admission ticket costs ₩8000 for adults but since we have this Gyeonggi-do coupon booklet which can be used till March 2016, we managed to get additional discounts :)

Since we only had some bread for breakfast, so we were really hungry after all the travelling. Sadly, there are only 2 cafes in Petite France itself and both cafes have the same menu and only serve snacks.

I honestly don't like these kind of dolls :x

There's also this stamp event thing here in Petite France but we didn't pay for it this time. I collected some of the stamps on my notebook though!

I went in here for less than 2 minutes, took some shots and ran out because nobody was inside and I was scared af.

And that's most of the photos from Petite France! If you're taking the city tour bus, make sure you check the schedule from time to time. We waited at the bus stop 20 minutes before the time stated and there was already a queue. If you don't want to wait at least half an hour for the next bus to arrive, be sure to be there earlier, especially during the weekends/holidays! Part 2 of Day 4 will be up in no time and it'll be about The Garden of Morning Calm :)
